Academy President Letter
August 29th, 2020
From the Desk of Kim Skibsted DC, FIANM(us)
International Academy of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine

Greetings Fellows,

I want to inform you that there are changes underway with the Diplomate examination process.  The number of candidates has been increasing, which prompted the IANM to expand the Part I test schedule to one date per month from January to October.

All scheduled times are in the Eastern Time Zone – (New York, New York USA time zone)

Students are starting classes at varying times throughout the year and are finishing at different times. That was one reason for the ten examination dates versus the three or four we had scheduled in the past. We have doctors who took classes years ago and may not have taken the ACO or ABCO exam and now want to get into the program. Also, we have interest from doctors who passed Part I of the ABCO examination and now have the opportunity to sit the IANM Part II. The IANM recognizes their accomplishment and is allowing them the opportunity to complete their specializing goals. If you have a friend or colleague who fits this description, have them contact the IANM for more details.

Now, the volume has indicated that the Part II examination date has to be expanded. Currently, we have three days in November.  Our initial plans are to have examination dates in May 2021 and November 2021. We are now flexible and can add additional times during the year if needed.

All classes are online, and both Part I and II are by remote proctoring that includes the use of AI. I have been working with chiropractic orthopedics and neuromusculoskeletal medicine for over 20 years. I have never seen such a rapid development of testing services to make the specialty post-graduate program cost much less than days past. No travel, no hotels, no meals, no rental car, no time loss from the office, and no time loss with the family. Also, the doctors can progress at their own pace of study.  I believe this is why we have seen an increase in candidates.

As I said in the last letter, we are expanding the specialty on many fronts. I believe all for the improvement and betterment of our members and the specialty. I hope to be able to report more soon!

May you enjoy the rest of the summer and have a great Labor Day weekend!

… Where your achievements matter”
