Academy President Letter
May 29th, 2018

From the Desk of Kim Skibsted DC, FACO
Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists

Greetings Fellows,

It was a great pleasure meeting with a wonderful gathering of orthopedic-minded Fellows at the 2018 ACCO Conference in Carlsbad last month! Excellent speakers with practice relevant topics, and CE hours that apply directly towards the Academy’s annual maintenance of credentials. For those who were unable to attend this year, we encourage you to consider the 2019 ACCO Conference in Las Vegas.

I want to extend a special thank you to all for your kind words of congratulations and welcome as the new president of the Academy. I have had the privilege of serving as vice president of the Academy and chair of the membership committee over the past several years, and it is an honor to continue serving as president. Our organization has steadily grown in membership and breadth of activities under the exceptional leadership of our immediate past president, Dr. Jim Brandt. His dedication and tireless devotion to chiropractic orthopedics is an inspiration to all…I am truly in his debt.

The Academy would like to welcome and introduce Dr. Michael Ingui as our newest associate board member. His curriculum vitae and service in chiropractic orthopedics are impressive indeed, and it will be a pleasure working with him as we move forward.

We also welcome Kathy Beauchamp as our new lay member of the Academy Board. Kathy has an extensive background in chiropractic, in addition to serving on various community service boards in Des Moines, Iowa. Her service to the Academy will be greatly appreciated.

The Academy would like to acknowledge the University of Bridgeport and the exceptional work of Dr. Jim Lehman in the expansion of postgraduate education in neuromusculoskeletal medicine and chiropractic orthopedics. There are several classes currently underway in the states of Illinois, Wisconsin, Ohio, Texas, Alaska, and North Dakota with additional states under consideration. These postgraduate classes are designed for those interested in becoming a neuromusculoskeletal specialist, and we encourage you to consider attending for your CE hours. These hours will also apply towards your annual Academy maintenance of credentials requirement. Check the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic website for dates and locations.

           “… Where your achievements matter”
