Academy President Letter
January 31st, 2020

From the Desk of Kim Skibsted DC, FIANM(us)
International Academy of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine

Greetings Fellows,

We are going to be working to communicate with you more frequently. The IANM Board has been going pedal to the metal for the last few months. Many things are happening in the background, and they will be becoming to the forefront soon!

The Academy has received notice that the trademarks for the “Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists” and “Diplomate Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists – DACO” have been trademarked. We were also recently notified by counsel that the “International Academy of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine,” “Diplomate International Academy of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine – DIANM,” and “FIANM” are well into the process of being trademarked.

The Academy has a new Facebook page up and running, and the Communication Committee will be adding more content over time. Please look for us and give us a “like.” Thank you!

We are in the process of changing our membership dues billing platform. We found that the old system had some broken pieces, and some members were not billed. So, if you get a new statement, please enter the necessary information.

The American College of Chiropractic Orthopedists is having its symposium at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas, NV, on April 23-25, 2020. ACCO hours are acceptable for IANM recertification requirements in 2020-2021.

The Part I window is closed for the February 2020 time slots, but it remains open for May and July. Check the website for dates and requirements. We will soon have the application forms necessary to start the examination process available for candidates to complete online.

There are several items that the IANM is working on, including an online practice examination for Part I and Part II candidates. Two more significant changes and additions are in the works, and hopefully, by my next newsletter, one or both will be able to be revealed. Each one expands the footprint of the chiropractic neuromusculoskeletal specialist.

We are still looking for help with the Examination Committee and Executive Board. Yup, there will be some effort from you on these committees, but your support is essential for the advancement of our specialty. Drop the Academy a note in which you are interested.

Thank you for your membership and support.
