From the Desk of J. R. Brandt, DC, FACO
President, Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists

Good Morning Doctor:

I am pleased to report that the ACA House of Delegates voted overwhelmingly on September 23, 2005
to recognize the Academy Diplomate Examination. When the candidate successfully completes the
examination process they become a Diplomate of the Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists and obtain
the D.A.C.O. credential. The Coalition of the Academy, ACCO and CCO worked very hard to bring this
favorable result. The dedication to improving your specialty was on display by these three groups.
Each organization has tremendous resources in their membership. Thank you to the many that made
this possible!

The NWHSU (Bloomington, MN) Diplomate examination (DACO) roster has been filled at 24 slots. The
Academy office is maintaining a waiting list in case of cancellations. They will be automatically placed
with the Portland examination (WSCC) on March 26, 2006. Western States has scheduled a review
class in January 2006. For candidates needing a few extra hours to qualify for the examination
process, these review hours will apply towards the 360 hours needed to sit the examination. The
Academy also will accept up to 36 hours from a CCE college/university sponsored post-graduate
Diplomate program as long as it does not duplicate completed orthopedic hours. The information is on
the Academy website (

It’s never to soon to be thinking of Maui! The American College of Chiropractic Orthopedists annual
convention will be at the Maui Prince Hotel June 16-18, 2006. Watch for the ACCO mailing. The ACCO
gives the Academy an hour for presentation of scientific papers during this symposium. We already
have one paper scheduled. If you have an interesting case to present, or a report on an ongoing
research project, this is an excellent venue for you to present. The website lists the last day we will
accept papers. You do not have to be an ACCO member to attend. CCO has an annual membership
meeting at this symposium. CEU are provided by Southern California University of Health Sciences

Won’t be long and we will be raking leaves. The beautiful colors are just getting started.
