From the Desk of J. R. Brandt, DC, FACO President, Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists

Good Morning Doctor,

The Academy has given an unrestricted financial grant to the Council on Chiropractic Guidelines and Practice Parameters (CCGPP). This is a group of practicing clinicians, academics, researchers and national organizations dedicated to defining and using evidence based information to eliminate arbitrary and capricious interpretation of information about chiropractic. They are working to define our practices rather than some trade organization or business consortium. I’m sure they would like your support as well; check their website at (

Belated thanks to Drs. Vern Saboe and Jerry Wildenauer for presentation of papers at the April ACCO symposium. The information discussed by Dr. Saboe was regarding the cost benefit of Chiropractic care versus allopathic care in the workers compensation system. Dr. Wildenauer had a video and comments on brain implants for Parkinsonism. Additional information was passed out to the attendees updated information from last year’s presentation on sarcoidosis by Dr. Leonard Toon. Great presentations all.

Thank you for your orders of the new educational brochure. Thanks to Dr. Steve Savoie for the work he put into this product. You will soon be able to go right to the website ( and place an order. If you are in need of other patient educational tracts, you can access the FCER link on the Academy site and place your order. We are trying to save you and your staff some time!

We would like to welcome J. R. Consulting to our family of sponsors. Ms. Judy Richards has been a friend of Chiropractic and of orthopedics for some time. Her company provides voice recognition for office notes and correspondence. Please visit her link and ask for some information. Our office has used her products for years.

The Lloyd Table Company has also become a sponsor this month. They make quality chiropractic tables. Lloyd Company has been supportive of chiropractic orthopedics for quite some time. Please visit their website.

Northwestern Health Sciences University is offering a review class for the upcoming Academy orthopedic Diplomate examination. The dates are August 26-28, 2005. It is held on campus and you can contact the Postgraduate Department at (952) 888-4777 and ask for the Postgraduate Department. If you have a doctor on your staff who has met the requirements of 360 hours they may be eligible to sit for the examination. You can help the growth in our specialty by helping to notify a doctor who may not be aware of the new, fair and comprehensive Diplomate examination.

On Memorial Day we remember those who gave their lives to keep us free.
