Academy e-letter
Volume 4, Number 7-8
July-August, 2005

From the Desk of J. R. Brandt, DC, FACO
President, Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists

Good Morning Doctor:

A number of positive events have occurred over the normally quiet summer time:

  1. The Academy has scheduled a 3rd future examination for 2007 at National University of Health Sciences (NUHS). Exact date will be announced shortly.
  2. NUHS has a new post graduate orthopedic class in Boston, Massachusetts. Here is a great opportunity for you to send a colleague or associate doctor to the classes. It also qualifies for Academy re-credentialing, so visit the class from time to time. More info to come at https://ianmmedicine.org for dates, time and location.
  3. June was one of the best growth months the Academy has had in the recent past. Thank you and welcome new and returning members.
  4. There is a continuing increase in membership re-credentialing. The Academy office gets frequent calls from managed care groups checking credentials.
  5. Expanding the Diplomate examination question pool.
  6. Expanding the current number of Delphi committees throughout the United States. One new group was formed in Canada.
  7. NWHSU contacted the Academy and reported that there are 27 doctors registered for the 24 hour review class that they have sponsored. This is great news. This class was open for not only those sitting the Academy Diplomate examination in Minneapolis this November, but also Portland in March 2006. The Academy Delphi Committees are reviewing material for both examinations in this cycle.
  8. Working on a directory of the membership.

The Academy has been notified by Select Comfort, the sleep number bed company that they have established an e-commerce link for the Academy. Members can use this website to order a sleep set. There is a 40% discount available. The offer expires October 31, 2005. The following is needed to place the order:

  1. You will need to enter the unique coupon certificate number from a mail out by Select Comfort. If you have misplaced or no longer have the coupon, you can call the toll free line 1-888-460-6973 for further information..
  2. A second method is to go right to a Select Comfort store with a copy of your state license. Use of this process gives additional support to the Academy.
  3. Please take the time to visit all of our sponsors. They offer quality products to us.

The e-journal would appreciate contributions from the membership of case studies for up coming issues of the journal. The guidelines for the articles are found on the web site. Your involvement and participation would be appreciated. Thanks!

I hope that you and your family have a safe and relaxing Labor Day.
