Academy e-letter Volume 3, Number 3, March 2004

From the Desk of J. R. Brandt DC, FACO President, Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists

Good Morning Doctor,

The first issue of the e-journal is about to be launched! Once it is ready you will be prompted to go to the website. A new link will be placed on the website that will take you directly to the e-journal. The editors have been working hard to get this to us by March. Dr. Joyce Miller from Anglo-European Chiropractic College (AECC) has joined the editorial staff and will be contributing to pediatric orthopedics. She teaches pediatric orthopedics throughout Europe.

The next few months are going to be quite busy for the Academy. April 18, 2004, the Coalition certification examination for Diplomate status will be given in Toronto. The examiners are from the Interorganizational Coalition comprising members of the Academy, ACCO and CCO. Two Canadian orthopedists will be present and assisting with the process. This will be held at Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College.

May 1st is the annual Board meeting.

The ACCO convention is May 28th through May 30th 2004 in Orlando, Florida, with our next Diplomate examination on the day before — May 27th. The current examination outline is on the Academy website. NWHSU has a review class that is set for March 19th through the 21st.

The Coalition (Academy, CCO and ACCO) is continually striving to provide a meaningful examination experience. We are working to develop alternative credits that may be applied toward completion of the orthopedic program. The Coalition has focused every effort to strengthening our specialty.

This is the formal announcement of the Academy Diplomate examination in chiropractic orthopedics to be held on October 9, 2004 at Northwestern Health Sciences University (NWHSU). The University is located in Bloomington, Minnesota. Additional information will be provided on the website. Please contact Cheryl at our office (515-981-9654) and ask for the October 2004 Diplomate examination application. NWHSU is setting up a review class; the dates of the class are August 27-29, 2004. NWHSU is close to the airport and we have available discounted hotel rates at the Wyndham Hotel near the university. They provide free transportation to the college. If you have a colleague or know someone who may be interested in sitting for this examination, please have them notify Cheryl at our office. Adding to our Diplomate base makes orthopedics a stronger specialty.

Please visit our Partners on the website. Ordering office supplies through CPA and requesting the Academy receive the credit is helpful to your organization. If you have not signed up with CPA, please send me an e-mail and I will get the information to you. It is a great opportunity to save some money on supplies.
If you know someone who is not a member of the Academy, ask them to join. Have them check the website and they can get information about membership.

Spring… a time of renewal.
