The requirements for sitting the International Academy of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine (IANM) Diplomate examination include a minimum of 300 post-graduate hours in a specialty level program, relating to the practice of neuromusculoskeletal medicine.

Current Post-Doctoral NMSM Studies

Currently, post-graduate level studies are being sponsored by the University of Bridgeport (UB)  has 300 online hours that meet  IANM. eligibility requirements. Also, 50 contact hours are available at multiple sites. Post-graduate Hours from Other Chiropractic Institutions

Doctors of Chiropractic may apply certified transcript hours in a post-graduate Chiropractic Orthopedics Diplomate program, obtained from one or more chiropractic institutions other than UBCC, towards the minimum 300-hour requirement for  eligibility. Transcript hours will be counted only once per Diplomate course topic. Duplicate course material will not be accepted.

If you have certified transcript hours from a Chiropractic Orthopedics Diplomate program that pre-dates the current UBCC program and wish to determine eligibility, begin the application process on the Exam Calendar page.

Special Circumstances

Requests to review other chiropractic Diplomate post-graduate study requirements other than those listed above may be considered on a case by case basis. The following material is required for the Academy to consider a special circumstances request:

  • A detailed description of the applicable course syllabus.
  • A list of instructors.
  • A certified transcript of hours completed.

The Academy will only consider certified transcript hours in a post-graduate program whose syllabus overlaps the specialty practice of neuromusculoskeletal medicine. The hours must not duplicate hours or content that the candidate is already applying towards their 300-hour requirement. Please refer to the  IANM job analysis for details. The candidate is encouraged to compare the post-graduate program with the  IANM job analysis for possible overlap before making a formal special circumstances request. If you wish to have the Academy   Board consider the eligibility of alternative Diplomate level post-graduate studies, you must send a written request for a special circumstances determination to the Executive Director along with a $190.00  $95 USD fee to the International Academy of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine. Your course syllabus, transcript hours and list of instructors are required for The Academy board to begin the review and determination process. The $190.00  $95 USD fee is for The Academy Boards time and research involved for review and determination of your case. There is no guarantee that a special circumstances request will be approved, in whole or in part, as a result of paying the $95 USD fee.
